The second time I met Melissa I was 8 months pregnant. With her own newborn, Lily in tow, we sat at Starbucks and chatted for hours…mostly about childbirth and newborns, and of course her impending wedding. We bonded instantly and I just knew that her wedding day would be one I couldn’t wait to be a part of. See, the first time I met Melissa, her fiancé Ben was a groomsmen in a wedding I was shooting and though we didn’t get to speak much that day, I’m always so thankful when I am referred by a previous bride and groom. Especially when I’m referred an incredible couple like Ben and Melissa, who little did I know, picked one of my favorite venue’s EVER. Leo Carrillo ranch is seriously beautiful and if you ever find yourself in Carlsbad, it’s open to the public and FULL of peacocks. They were gorgeous, and noisy, and always trying to get their own time on camera (which of course I didn’t have a problem with). Let’s just say they were the other guests at the wedding. I spent my drive home that night re-living the days events, from the rock-paper-scissors during the ceremony to the insanely sweet father-daughter dance between the groom and little Lily. It was just a really great day. I even get to see Ben and Melissa again next spring when I shoot Melissa’s maid-of-honor, Melissa’s wedding! enjoy!
